Lake District National Park is conveniently served by M6 motorway on its east. Travelling from south of England northbound on M6, take the A66 exit at junction 40 towards Penrith and at the roundabout take the first exit on to A66. After driving on A66 for approximately 14.9 miles take A591 to Keswick and then rest is easy!
